Bloody Mary

MAKES 4

plenty of ice cubes

300ml tomato juice

75ml vodka

50ml dry sherry

2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp Tabasco sauce

juice of 1 small lemon (or 1 lime)

¼ tsp celery salt

a few grindings of black pepper

Half-fill a large glass jug with ice and add all the other ingredients. Stir well and then strain into four ice-filled glasses.

Celery nibbles

SERVES 4

2 small celery hearts, outer sticks peeled

200g cream cheese

2–3 jalapeño chillies

Fill the celery with cream cheese using a small table knife and cut into short, bite-size lengths.

Deseed the jalapeños, thinly slice them and garnish each piece of celery with these, to taste.
